United Way

Suppanting hawaii Charities

American Savings Bank is a long-time supporter of Aloha United Way (AUW), Friendly Isle United Way, Hawaii Island United Way, Kauai United Way, and Maui United Way. In addition to an annual corporate donation, each year American Savings Bank employees make personal pledges and organize various fundraisers to benefit local United Way organizations. American Savings Bank employees also serve as volunteer tax preparers for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program which offers refundable federal income tax credits for low-income working individuals and families. In partnership with AUW, seventeen American Savings Bank employees have received EITC training and have assisted qualified persons to apply for the tax credits since 2006.

American Savings Bank employees Henry Arkle (second from left) and Christine Ong (second from right) accept Aloha United Way's "2006 Coordinator of the Year" award From AUW's President Susan Doyle and Campaign Chair Nate Smith. American Savings Bank employee bake sale produces sweet rewards for Aloha United Way.
