Smart ATMs
Deposit and Cash Checks

Most American Savings Bank Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) allow you to withdraw cash and, depending on the network, make deposits and transfer funds between your accounts. The newest generation of ATMs — 'Smart' ATMs — can do even more.

If you have questions about how to use an ATM, simply stop by any branch. We'll be happy to assist you in getting started.

Additional functions make it easier for you to bank using a 'Smart' ATM

  1. Funds from deposits are subject to verification and may not be available for immediate withdrawal. Please refer to your account rules regarding funds availability.
  2. Transactions are treated as withdrawals and then as deposit transactions. If you do not have sufficient funds in your account, the ATM will process the deposit portion of the transaction, but not the withdrawal portion.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1: Endorse your check.
Step 2: Insert your American Savings Bank Money ExpressSM ATM card or Visa Gold Check card and enter your PIN.
Step 3: Select "Deposit/Cash Check" from the on-screen menu.
Step 4: Select your transaction:
  • Cash Check Entire Amount
  • Check Deposit with Cash Back
  • Check Deposit Only
Step 5: Select your deposit account type:
  • Checking
  • Savings
Step 6: When prompted, insert your check.
Step 7: An image and the amount of your check will appear on-screen. If the amount is correct, press "Amount is Correct."

If the amount shown is not correct, press "Enter Different Amount" and enter the correct amount. When the correct amount appears, press "Amount is Correct."
Step 8: The Smart ATM will then conclude your transaction, dispense the cash amount (if requested), and inquire if you would like to make another transaction.

General Tips for Use
  • These ATMs may dispense $50 bills. If you would prefer smaller denomination bills, please enter a withdrawal amount of $160 or less at most locations.
  • If you want to cash a check for an amount greater than $160, but prefer denominations smaller than $50, simply deposit the check as a separate transaction and then withdraw an amount of $160 or less at most locations.
  • You may make more than one withdrawal if you would like more cash, as long as funds are available in your account. Just press "yes' when the ATM asks if you would like another transaction.
